Down on the farm

In case you were wondering why my consultancy is called Tag Red

By Royal Appointment

We used to grow sprouts on our family farm which were sold at Covent Garden, when it was London's fruit and vegetable market, in brown waxed boxes with distinctive deep red labels.

Our sprouts were carefully grown and prepared for market in steaming sprout sheds during the winter monrths. Over time they established a reputation for outstanding taste with a consistent shape, and we supplied Buckingham Palace, Fortnum and Mason and Marks and Spencer.

The red tag

They became known by the market traders, shops and restaurants simply as the 'red labels' or 'red tags'. They were the definitive sprout brand.

This story is my reminder that strong brands are built over time by hard graft and attention to detail, helped by distinctive branding and serendipity.
